More Than a Restaurantโฆ A Family Story
A couple united by passion, family, and food. Behind Chef Kebab are Garo and Salpy Shahinian, a couple married since 1990 whose story began in Iraq. Parents of four children, they journeyed together through the challenges of migration, from Iraq to Syria, and finally to Quebec in 2011. Throughout it all, they held onto one shared belief: that tradition, memory, and values are best passed on around the table. Chef Kebab is the result of this journey, shaped by resilience, love, and a deep connection to Armenian and Middle Eastern culture.

Garo shahinian
Garo began his career in engineering before turning to food, Garo has always been driven by the desire to build whether it be spaces, projects, or flavours. From his early ventures in Iraq and later in Syria, he opened and ran cafeterias, takeout counters, and worked in the butchery
business. Visionary and passionate, he sees food as a creative space where precision,
imagination, and generosity meet. Since 2011, Garo has dedicated his culinary skills to Chef Kebab, always striving for excellence in both taste and hospitality.
Salpy Shahinian
Salpy studied veterinary medicine before discovering her passion for cooking. Mother of four, Salpy is the quiet strength behind every family project. Discreet yet determined, she has always been a steady presence by her husbandโs side, deeply committed to preserving tradition and
sharing meaningful food. Through the family recipes she carefully prepares, Salpy brings to Chef Kebab an authentic and welcoming spirit, where every dish reflects the warmth of home.
